The Company You Keep is a 2012 political thriller directed by and starring Robert Redford. The film follows the story of Jim Grant, a former member of the Weather Underground, a radical group that engaged in anti-war and anti-government activities in the 1960s and 70s.
Grant has been living under a false identity as a public interest lawyer and single father since the 1980s, but his past catches up with him when a young journalist, Ben Shepard, exposes his true identity. Grant becomes a fugitive, going on the run and trying to clear his name, while Shepard pursues the story and tries to uncover the truth behind the Weather Underground's actions.
As Grant travels across the country, he reconnects with former comrades and reflects on his past and the choices he made. Meanwhile, Shepard uncovers new information about the group's activities, including a bank robbery that resulted in the death of a security guard.
Along the way, the film explores themes of radicalism, activism, and the consequences of political action. The cast includes Shia LaBeouf as Shepard, as well as Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Chris Cooper, and Stanley Tucci.
