The Christmas Candle is a holiday film set in the late 1800s in the small town of Gladbury, England. The town has an interesting tradition where an angel visits the local candlemaker every 25 years and blesses a single candle that will perform a miracle on Christmas Eve. The current candlemaker, Edward Haddington (played by Hans Matheson), is a skeptic despite being tasked with the responsibility to keep the legend alive.
When a new minister arrives in town, David Richmond (played by John Hannah), he quickly learns about the town's tradition and encourages the locals to hold onto their faith. However, his modern views and fascination with electricity threaten to displace the old way of life in Gladbury. Meanwhile, a wealthy London couple (played by Samantha Barks and Sylvester McCoy) arrive in town hoping to conceive a child through a miracle.
As Christmas approaches, the town is torn between tradition and progress, and Edward must question his beliefs as he faces personal challenges.
