Fate's Body Swap: A Life-Altering Lightning Encounter

Comedy  United States of America

The Change-Up is a 2011 comedy directed by David Dobkin and written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. The movie centers around Dave, a successful lawyer, and family man who is struggling to balance his career and family life, and Mitch, a slacker and womanizer who is carefree and has no responsibilities. The two men are not friends, but they envy each other's lifestyles.

One night, after getting drunk and peeing in a fountain, lightning strikes and their bodies switch. Dave wakes up in Mitch's body, while Mitch wakes up in Dave's body. The rest of the movie deals with them trying to adjust to each other's lives while also dealing with their own personal problems.

Dave, in Mitch's body, initially enjoys the single life and sleeping around, but soon realizes that it's not as fulfilling as his own life with his wife and kids. Meanwhile, Mitch, in Dave's body, struggles with the pressures of being a father and husband and begins to appreciate the sacrifices Dave has made for his family.

As they try to figure out how to switch back, they also have to deal with various comedic situations, including Mitch's inappropriate behavior in Dave's workplace and Dave's awkward attempts at being a ladies man.

The movie ends with them finally switching back and gaining a better understanding of each other's lives. The Change-Up received mixed reviews from critics but was a modest box office success.
