The Car is a 1977 horror film directed by Elliot Silverstein. The film stars James Brolin as Captain Wade Parent, Kathleen Lloyd as Lauren, the town's school teacher, and Ronny Cox as Luke, Wade's deputy.
As the mysterious black coupe continues its deadly rampage, Wade and his team try to figure out who or what is behind it. They soon realize that the car seems to have a mind of its own and is targeting specific individuals in the town.
As the death toll rises, tensions escalate between the townspeople, with some believing that the car is possessed by a devil, while others believe that it's all just a hoax. When the car sets its sights on Lauren, Wade must race against time to stop it before it's too late.
The Car was praised for its suspenseful and tense atmosphere, as well as its inventive use of sound and music to enhance the horror elements of the film. Despite mixed critical reception, the film has since gained a cult following and has been recognized as one of the better horror films of the 1970s.
