The Calling is a 2014 Canadian crime thriller film directed by Jason Stone and stars Susan Sarandon as Detective Hazel Micallef. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Inger Ash Wolfe.
The story revolves around Micallef, a veteran police officer who suffers from chronic back pain and an addiction to painkillers. She lives a quiet life in the small town of Port Dundas, Ontario, where she doesn't have to deal with much excitement.
