The Calcium Kid is a British sports comedy film released in 2004. The film stars Orlando Bloom as Jimmy Connelly, a milkman who is also an amateur boxer. When he accidentally knocks out the British boxing champion, he is suddenly thrust into the spotlight and is chosen as the replacement contender for the world title fight.
Despite being completely out of his depth, Jimmy decides to take on the challenge and prepares for the fight under the guidance of his coach, Herbie Bush (played by Michael Peña). As the fight draws nearer, Jimmy becomes increasingly nervous and doubts his ability to win. However, with the support of his friends and family, he manages to summon the courage to go ahead with the fight.
The Calcium Kid is directed by Alex De Rakoff and also stars Rafe Spall, Tamer Hassan and Omid Djalili. The film received mixed reviews from critics but was praised for its comedic elements and Orlando Bloom's performance.
