The Burning is a slasher film that was released in 1981. The storyline is based on a group of campers who play a prank on the caretaker, Cropsy. They scare him by lighting a skull on fire and leaving it in his cabin. However, the prank goes awry and Cropsy is severely burned, leaving him with disfigured features and a deep seated hatred for the campers.

Years later, Cropsy is released from the hospital but with limited social skills and a desire for vengeance. He returns to the summer camp with a pair of garden shears as his weapon of choice and begins stalking and killing the campers one by one. The counselors at the camp are alerted to the danger, but it's too late to stop Cropsy from continuing his killing spree.

As the terror continues, Todd, one of the campers, realizes that they are being hunted down by their former caretaker. He rallies the group together to defend themselves against Cropsy's attacks. They begin to fight back and eventually corner Cropsy, leading to a final confrontation that is both bloody and intense.

The Burning was directed by Tony Maylam and starred Brian Matthews and Leah Ayres. It was considered a controversial movie upon release due to its graphic violence, and was heavily edited in some countries. However, it remains a cult classic for horror fans.
