The Brothers Grimm is a 2005 American film directed by Terry Gilliam and written by Ehren Kruger. It stars Matt Damon and Heath Ledger as the titular characters, who are depicted as con artists rather than actual folklore collectors. Together they travel from town to town in French-occupied Germany, staging elaborate exorcisms and slaying imaginary beasts for money.
However, their fraudulent schemes are brought to a halt when they are summoned to the village of Marbaden, where young girls have been disappearing in the nearby enchanted forest. The brothers soon discover that the curse responsible for the disappearances is real and that they are ill-equipped to deal with the supernatural forces they encounter.
As they delve deeper into the cursed forest and its inhabitants, Jake and Will Grimm must summon the courage to confront the dangerous reality of their profession and the consequences of their fraudulent ways. Along the way, they encounter various legendary creatures from German folklore, including the Evil Queen, the Gingerbread Man, and the Wolf, as well as a mysterious hunter with a connection to their past.
