The Brides of Dracula

Horror  United Kingdom

The Brides of Dracula is a 1960 British horror film directed by Terence Fisher and starring Peter Cushing as Van Helsing. It is a sequel to the 1958 film Dracula, although Christopher Lee, who played Dracula in the first film, does not appear in this one.

The film follows young teacher Marianne Danielle (played by Yvonne Monlaur) as she travels to a job at a school for young ladies in Transylvania. Along the way, she meets a young man named Baron Meinster (played by David Peel) who is being held captive by his mother. Marianne helps him escape, not realizing that he is actually a vampire.

As the story progresses, it becomes clear that Baron Meinster has been turning other young women into vampires, including some of the students at Marianne's school. Van Helsing arrives to help in the fight against the undead, and together they attempt to put a stop to Meinster's reign of terror.

The Brides of Dracula is notable for featuring some of the most iconic female vampire characters in horror cinema, including the titular brides of Dracula. It also features strong performances from Cushing and Monlaur, as well as impressive sets and cinematography.
