The Blair Witch Project is a found-footage style horror movie that follows the story of three film students, Heather, Josh, and Mike, who venture into the woods in Burkittsville, Maryland, to shoot a documentary about a local legend known as the Blair Witch. They interview the townspeople, gather equipment, and start their journey into the woods.
As they progress through the forest, they experience strange occurrences, including eerie sounds at night and mysterious symbols etched into trees. Gradually, the situation worsens as they become lost, running low on food, and tensions rise between them. Strange occurrences continue to happen, and they begin to feel like they are being stalked by something.
As they continue their journey deeper into the woods, tensions rise between the group, and eventually, Josh goes missing. Heather and Mike search for him but are unable to find him. They eventually come across an eerie deserted house, where they hear strange noises and see strange objects hanging from the walls.
In the film's climactic scene, Heather, alone, runs through the woods with a camera, screaming for help. She is then trapped inside a small room of the rustic house where, facing the camera, she is pummeled to death. Her screams and the sounds of the beating are heard, but the camera falls to the floor, and the screen goes black.
The movie ends with a message that the footage was found a year later after the trio's disappearance. The movie's success, largely due to its unique marketing, led to two sequels and cemented the Blair Witch legend in popular culture.
