"The Blade" (1995) is a Hong Kong martial arts film directed by Tsui Hark and starring Vincent Zhao as Ding On, a young man who is taken in by a skilled swordmaker after being orphaned at a young age. Ding On discovers that his birth father was murdered by a notorious bandit named Lung (played by Moses Chan) who is said to be invincible. Driven by a thirst for revenge, Ding On sets out on a dangerous quest to find Lung and challenge him to a duel.

On his journey, Ding On encounters a group of brutal desert bandits who attack him and cut off his right arm. He is rescued by a kind-hearted woman named Hsiao Mei (played by Song Lei), who takes him back to her village and nurses him back to health. Despite losing his arm, Ding On refuses to give up his quest for vengeance and learns to master a unique fighting style that utilizes his remaining arm and his sharpened sword.

As Ding On prepares to face Lung in a final showdown, he discovers a shocking secret about his past and must decide whether to continue down the path of revenge or embrace forgiveness and move on with his life.
