After Alec and the Black Stallion are rescued from the deserted island, they return home and Alec's mother is initially hesitant about having the horse stay with them. However, she eventually warms up to the idea as she sees the bond that develops between Alec and the horse.
With the help of Henry Dailey, Alec begins training the Black Stallion for racing. The horse proves to be incredibly fast and talented, and soon they start competing in local races. As they continue to win races, they catch the attention of wealthy horse owner Neville Volant, who offers to buy the Black Stallion.
Alec is torn about whether to sell the horse or continue racing him with Henry. In the end, Alec decides to race the Black Stallion in the prestigious Matchrace against the two fastest horses in the world, Cyclone and Sun Raider. The race is intense and thrilling, with the Black Stallion ultimately winning by a nose.
The victory cements the bond between Alec and the Black Stallion, and they go on to achieve even greater success in the world of horse racing. Through their partnership, Alec learns valuable lessons about friendship, trust, and determination.
