Giovanni (played by Shiloh Fernandez) is a young man who has been trying to distance himself from his family's criminal past ever since his father was murdered in a mob hit 10 years ago. However, when his mother (Lorraine Bracco) asks him to bring a birthday cake to his uncle's house for a celebration, he reluctantly agrees.
As soon as Giovanni arrives at the party, he realizes that his uncle's world is still filled with danger and violence. He sees his uncle and his associates conducting shady business dealings and is forced to confront the harsh reality of his family's legacy.
Things quickly take a turn for the worse when a rival gang arrives, leading to a violent altercation that leaves several people dead. Giovanni finds himself caught in the middle of the chaos and struggles to survive.
As the night wears on, Gio discovers shocking secrets about his family's past and comes to a realization about his own future. The Birthday Cake is a gritty crime drama about loyalty, family, and the price of redemption.
