The Big Tease

Comedy  N/A

The Big Tease is a 1999 comedy film directed by Kevin Allen and written by Craig Ferguson and Sacha Gervasi. The film stars Craig Ferguson as Crawford Mackenzie, a Scottish hairstylist who believes he has been invited to participate in the prestigious Platinum Scissors hairstyling competition in Los Angeles.

With his film crew in tow, Crawford travels to Los Angeles and prepares for the competition, but soon discovers that he is only there to watch as an audience member. Disappointed but undeterred, Crawford sets out to win over the judges and become a contestant in the competition, competing against the arrogant and obnoxious Norwegian hairstylist Stig Ludwiggssen (played by David Rasche).

As Crawford navigates the world of Hollywood hairstyling, he meets a variety of colorful characters, including a hair-salon owner played by Frances Fisher and a love interest played by Mary McCormack. The film also features cameos from Drew Carey, Jimmy Fallon, and others.

The Big Tease pokes fun at the world of hairstyling and the exaggerated personalities and egos of stylists, but also has heart and showcases Crawford's passion for his craft. The film received mixed reviews from critics but has since become a cult classic among fans of comedy films.
