The Big Brawl, also known as Battle Creek Brawl, is a 1980 martial arts action comedy film directed by Robert Clouse, who previously directed the Bruce Lee classic, Enter the Dragon. The film stars Jackie Chan in his first American film, and follows his character, Jerry Kwan, as he is forced to participate in a brutal street-fight competition to help his family's restaurant business.
Jerry is a talented martial artist who is living in Chicago during the 1930s. His father runs a restaurant that is struggling to stay open due to the economic downturn and competition from a rival restaurant. To save the family business, Jerry's uncle Herbert suggests that Jerry enters a street-fight competition, known as the Battle Creek Brawl, where the winner takes home a large cash prize.
Despite his reservations, Jerry agrees to enter the competition, but soon realizes that it is much more brutal than he anticipated. He must fight against some of the toughest and most ruthless fighters in the city, including his rival's enforcer, played by Robert Wall. Along the way, he meets a beautiful nightclub singer named Nancy, played by Kristine DeBell, who becomes his ally and love interest.
As Jerry continues to fight his way through the tournament, he starts to gain the respect of his opponents and the crowd, who come to admire his skill and bravery. However, he also catches the attention of the powerful gangster, played by Mako, who is overseeing the competition and has his own plans for the winner.
The Big Brawl is a classic martial arts film that showcases Jackie Chan's skills as a performer and choreographer.
