The film follows private detective, Ned Cruz, who is hired by a wealthy and eccentric businessman, Simon Kestral, to find his missing girlfriend, Lexie. As Cruz begins his investigation, he discovers that Lexie was a stripper at a club owned by a notorious Russian mobster named Anton Protopov. He also learns that Lexie had a valuable diamond that was stolen from her.
Cruz's investigation takes him from the seedy strip clubs of Los Angeles to the remote desert of New Mexico where he meets a number of eccentric characters including a group of nuclear physicists. He is aided in his search by an LAPD detective named Skeres, but their working relationship is complicated by the fact that Skeres is sleeping with Lexie.
As Cruz delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of corruption, greed, and violence that leads to a deadly showdown with Protopov. Along the way, Cruz must also deal with Kestral's stunning wife, Julie, who seems to be more interested in him than her missing girlfriend.
The Big Bang is a thriller that is equal parts action-packed and philosophical, grappling with existential questions about the nature of reality, the role of science in society, and the ethics of human behavior. The film was directed by Tony Krantz and stars Antonio Banderas as Cruz, as well as a supporting cast that includes Sienna Guillory, Sam Elliott, and Snoop Dogg.
