Betrayed in Berlin: A Spy's Dilemma

The Berlin File is a South Korean espionage action-thriller film directed and written by Ryu Seung-wan. The story follows Pyo Jong-seong, a North Korean spy working in Berlin, who is tasked with an arms deal with a Middle Eastern terrorist group. The deal goes wrong, and Pyo is forced to go into hiding, with everyone from the South Koreans to his own bosses hunting him down.

As he tries to evade his pursuers, Pyo meets a mole in his own organization and a South Korean covert operative named Jung Jin-soo, who is also after the same weapons deal. Together, with the help of a North Korean embassy official, they try to expose a conspiracy involving high-level officials from both North and South Korea.

The film features intense action sequences, including gunfights, car chases and hand-to-hand combat scenes. The cast includes top actors from South Korea and China, including Ha Jung-woo, Han Suk-kyu, and Ryoo Seung-bum.

The Berlin File was released in South Korea on January 30, 2013, and was a commercial success in the country, grossing over $50 million. It also gained critical acclaim with its mix of action, espionage and political themes. The film was praised for its realistic portrayal of North-South Korean relations and for its depiction of the tense geopolitical climate of the Korean Peninsula.
