The inept barber in question is named Benny and he runs his barber shop in a small town. Despite his lack of skill, Benny is a friendly and well-liked member of the community. However, his home life is less than ideal, as his wife Sadie is a nagging and critical woman who constantly belittles him.
Benny's life takes a dramatic turn when he is called upon to give a haircut to a wealthy businessman, Mr. Haney. Despite his nervousness and lack of experience, Benny manages to impress Haney with his friendly demeanor and positive attitude. Haney hires Benny to work at his upscale salon in the city, much to the shock of Benny's wife and the town's residents.
As Benny adjusts to life in the big city, he faces new challenges and adventures. He also finds himself falling for a beautiful salon worker named Lulu. However, his happiness is short-lived, as his jealous wife arrives in the city and causes trouble.
Ultimately, Benny must decide whether to stay with his miserable wife or pursue a new life and love in the city. In the end, Benny learns the importance of self-confidence and standing up for himself, both in his personal life and in his career.
