As Remy's health deteriorates, his son Sebastian arranges for him to be transferred to a private hospital with better care. Remy's friends also gather to see him, and they reminisce about the good old days and discuss their current lives. They also discuss political and social issues, including the role of religion in modern society and government corruption.
As Remy's condition worsens, he starts to hallucinate and sees visions of his deceased mother and ex-lover, who comfort him. During this time, his friends also discover that he had been hoarding prescription drugs, which they decide to use to ease his pain.
Eventually, Remy succumbs to his illness and passes away surrounded by his loved ones. The film ends with a touching scene of his friends scattering his ashes into the river and reflecting on their own mortality.
