As the man, known only as "The Baker," adjusts to his new role as a guardian, he discovers that his granddaughter, Lily, has been sucked into a dangerous world of drugs and gangs. Determined to protect her from the same fate that befell his son, he must confront his own past and the demons that have haunted him for years.
The Baker is a retired hitman who walked away from his violent past to seek spiritual solace in a remote mountain cabin. But when Lily's mother dies of an overdose, he is forced to return to civilization and take custody of the precious young girl. Unfortunately, she has already fallen in with a bad crowd, and The Baker finds himself battling not only the ruthless drug dealers who killed his son but also their associates in law enforcement.
With Lily's life hanging in the balance, The Baker must rely on all his old skills to keep her safe. He sets out on a dangerous quest for revenge, working his way up the criminal ladder to find the man responsible for his son's death. Along the way, he encounters a colorful cast of characters, including a former associate who now runs a bakery (hence his nickname), a beautiful artist who tempts him with the possibility of a new life, and a determined detective who is closing in on his trail.
Despite its grim subject matter, The Baker is ultimately a story of redemption and family. As The Baker reflects on his own failures as a father and a man, he realizes that the only way to honor his son's memory and protect Lily is to face his past head-on and embrace the love and compassion that he has withheld for so long.
