The Apartment is a classic thriller movie released in 1960, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, and Fred MacMurray. The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. It was also listed as one of the greatest movies of all time by the American Film Institute.

The movie starts with Max Bialystock (Jack Lemmon), a low-level office worker at Consolidated Life Insurance, trying to climb the corporate ladder by allowing his superiors to use his apartment for extramarital affairs. One day, Max finally gets the chance to invite his crush, Fran Kubelik (Shirley MacLaine), to his apartment, only to find out that she is one of the mistresses of his boss, Jeff Sheldrake (Fred MacMurray).

Feeling ashamed, Fran tries to commit suicide in Max's apartment, and Max is forced to take care of her. Meanwhile, Jeff tries to buy Max's silence by offering him a promotion, but Max refuses. When Jeff's wife finds out about his affair, Jeff decides to break up with Fran, leaving her heartbroken. Max, who has fallen in love with Fran, decides to take care of her and tries to help her move on from Jeff.

As Max and Fran get closer, Max discovers that Fran was the one who Daniel (played by Ray Walston) had killed his wife for. Max tries to find out the truth about Daniel's wife's death and why Fran was involved. In the end, Max confronts Jeff, who confesses to killing Fran's ex-lover.

The Apartment is a character-driven movie that combines drama, romance, and suspense. The film's themes of infidelity, loneliness, and redemption are still relevant today, making it a timeless classic that has stood the test of time.
