The Angry Red Planet is a 1959 science-fiction film directed by Ib Melchior. The movie follows the journey of the first manned flight to Mars, which consists of four astronauts: Colonel Thomas O'Bannion, Dr. Iris Ryan, Professor Gettell, and Sergeant Murdoch.
Upon arriving on Mars, the crew discovers that the planet is inhabited by dangerous and hostile creatures, including a giant amoeba-like monster and a bat-rat-spider creature. The crew also encounters strange, alien landscapes and structures.
To make matters worse, the crew's ship is damaged during their landing, and they are unable to take off again. They are forced to explore the planet and find a way to repair their ship and return to Earth.
Throughout their journey, the crew encounters hidden dangers and obstacles, including a cave of deadly crystals and telepathic beings called the "Sirens of Mars," who try to lure them to their deaths.
After enduring numerous hardships and battles with the planet's inhabitants, the crew finally manages to repair their ship and take off. Upon returning to Earth, they discover that they had been out of communication for months and were believed to be lost.
The film was notable for its use of unusual special effects, including a unique color process called CineMagic that gave the film a psychedelic look. It was also one of the first science-fiction films to feature a female astronaut character.
