The Anderson Tapes is a 1971 crime thriller directed by Sidney Lumet. Duke Anderson (played by Sean Connery), a career criminal, has just been released from prison and reconnects with his ex-girlfriend Ingrid (played by Dyan Cannon) who is now living in a luxurious apartment building in New York City.
Duke becomes fascinated with the building's advanced security systems and comes up with a plan to rob every apartment in the building. He enlists the help of several other criminals, including a safecracker played by Christopher Walken.
Unbeknownst to Duke, the building's management has installed audio and video surveillance throughout the building to monitor the tenants' behavior. Duke's every move, as well as his conversations with his accomplices, are recorded on tape.
As the robbery plan takes shape, the story weaves through a colorful cast of characters, including a retired mobster, a gay couple, a paranoid drug addict, and a corrupt cop. The tension builds as Duke and his team move deeper into the building, risking exposure at every turn.
