The Amazing Spider-Man is a 2012 superhero film directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Peter's love interest. The film is a reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise, with a new cast and storyline.

In the film, Peter Parker is a brilliant high school student who is bullied and feels like an outcast. He discovers his father's briefcase, which leads him to Oscorp, a corporation that his father used to work at. There, he meets Dr. Curt Connors, a scientist who is working on a project to regenerate human limbs using reptile DNA.

Peter is bitten by a genetically modified spider while at Oscorp and gains superhuman abilities. He uses his newfound powers to become Spider-Man and fights crime in New York City. However, he also becomes involved in a dangerous plot by Connors to use the reptile DNA to create a serum that will turn him into a powerful villain known as The Lizard.

As Spider-Man, Peter must stop The Lizard and save the city from destruction while also trying to balance his personal life and keep his identity a secret. He also becomes romantically involved with Gwen Stacy, but their relationship is complicated by Peter's duties as Spider-Man.

The film received positive reviews for its cast performances, action sequences, and direction. It also grossed over $750 million at the box office worldwide and spawned two sequels, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
