Time Travelers: The Ghostly Mansion Rescue

Fantasy,Family  United Kingdom

The Amazing Mr Blunden is a 1972 British drama-fantasy film directed by Lionel Jeffries. The film stars a youngs Madeline Smith and a child actor named Garry Miller. The story is based on Antonia Barber's book "The Ghosts."

The Allen family - Lucy (Madeline Smith) and her two children, Jamie (Garry Miller) and Lucy (Rosalyn Landor) - have fallen on hard times. They are struggling to make ends meet and have been living in a small, run-down apartment in Camden Town. Mr. Blunden, an old, mysterious solicitor, visits them and offers them a job as caretakers at a manor in the countryside.

The Allen family moves to the manor, which is rundown and in a state of disrepair. The children discover a magical potion recipe in an old book, which can transport them to the past. They end up meeting the spirits of two children, Sara and Georgie, who were killed in a tragic accident almost a hundred years ago.

It turns out that the children's father, Captain Marriot, killed them as part of a murder-suicide due to his financial ruin. Sara and Georgie can move freely during the anniversary of their deaths and that's how they are able to meet Lucy's children.

The children assist the ghost children in changing their fate by uncovering the truth behind their death. The children discover that their father was wrongly suspected of financial fraud and so that the family's finances were actually okay. Captain Marriot killed himself and her daughters out of grief from his wife's death, who he begged to return to life.

Overall, The Amazing Mr Blunden is a heartwarming and emotional story of familial love and sacrifice. It is a tale of how tragedy can be overcome, with the aid of time-traveling children and supernatural forces. Both children and adults will surely enjoy this peculiarity-filled and at times, creepy film.
