The Alligator People is a 1959 horror film directed by Roy Del Ruth. The movie revolves around a young woman named Jane Marvin, who is engaged to be married to the love of her life, Paul Webster. However, during their honeymoon train journey, Paul suddenly disappears without a trace.
Years later, Jane decides to undergo hypnosis to try and recover her lost memories from the traumatic experience. During the session, she recalls her marriage to Paul, who had a terrible secret. He was conducting experiments on alligators with a chemical serum that turned them into half-human creatures. When Jane discovers his secret, Paul injects her with the serum, turning her into a half-alligator creature.
Feeling guilty, Paul abandons her on a train, but Jane survives and seeks a cure for her condition. Her search leads her to a remote swamp where she discovers the mansion, which is home to a twisted and terrifying cast of characters, including a drunken one-armed lout, a mysterious doctor, and a cold-hearted elderly woman living alone in a brooding manse.
As she delves further into the mystery, Jane uncovers the truth behind Paul's experiments and her own transformation. She must ultimately face a horrifying showdown with the titular alligator people as she fights for her own survival and sanity.
