The Air Up There is a 1994 sports comedy film directed by Paul Michael Glaser and starring Kevin Bacon. Bacon plays Jimmy Dolan, a college basketball coach who is desperate for a promotion. In order to impress his superiors, he embarks on a journey to Africa to recruit Saleh, a towering basketball prodigy he saw in a home video.

Upon arriving in Africa, Dolan is faced with a number of challenges. He has trouble finding Saleh, who is the son of a tribal chief and has important duties to attend to. He also has to navigate the unfamiliar territory and culture, and deal with the skepticism of the locals who are not used to outsiders.

Eventually, Dolan finds Saleh and must convince him to come with him to the United States to play college basketball. But Saleh is torn between his love for basketball and his responsibilities to his tribe, which is being threatened by a mining company with its own basketball team.

As Dolan tries to persuade Saleh to join him, he also learns about the importance of community, tradition, and family. The Air Up There is a feel-good sports movie that celebrates the power of teamwork and determination, while also acknowledging the importance of cultural sensitivity and respect.
