The African Queen is a classic adventure film released in 1951, directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn.

The movie is set in German East Africa in 1914, during World War I. Hepburn plays Rose Sayer, a prim and proper British missionary who is forced to flee to a remote village after her brother and other missionaries in the area are killed by the Germans. She meets Charlie Allnut (Bogart), a rough-around-the-edges Canadian who operates a steamer named African Queen.

Charlie offers to take Rose back to civilization, but she insists on continuing her mission to stop the Germans. After a near-death experience with a German warship, Rose convinces Charlie to join her in a dangerous mission to sink the German warship using African Queen as a torpedo boat.

Despite being ill-equipped and facing insurmountable odds, Charlie and Rose embark on their journey down the treacherous river, navigating through rapids, swarms of mosquitoes and crocodiles, all while avoiding detection by the Germans.

Along the way, Charlie and Rose grow closer and develop feelings for each other. The two of them work together to build an improvised torpedo device and launch a surprise attack on the German warship. The climax is an epic battle of wits and determination, with the fate of the mission and their lives hanging in the balance.

The African Queen was critically acclaimed, with particularly high praise for the performances of both Hepburn and Bogart. The film won an Academy Award for Best Actor (Bogart) and Best Screenplay. It remains a beloved classic, and a must-see for fans of adventure films and classic Hollywood cinema.
