The 12th Man is based on the true story of Jan Baalsrud, a Norwegian resistance fighter during World War II who was sent on a mission to sabotage a German airfield in northern Norway. However, the mission was compromised and Baalsrud and his eleven comrades were forced to flee through the rugged terrain of the Norwegian wilderness.
Baalsrud is wounded and manages to escape but is pursued relentlessly by the Gestapo. He is helped by various individuals along the way including fishermen, farmers, and other members of the resistance. He endures severe weather conditions, hunger, and frostbite but eventually manages to evade his pursuers and escape to Sweden.
Throughout his journey, Baalsrud is haunted by the memory of his fallen comrades and is determined to survive in order to tell their story and honor their sacrifice. The movie is a gripping and suspenseful account of one man's incredible courage and perseverance in the face of extreme adversity.
