That Was Then... This Is Now is a 1985 drama film based on the novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton. The film stars Emilio Estevez as Mark Jennings and Craig Sheffer as Bryon Douglas, two teenagers who have been best friends since childhood. Mark is a delinquent who has been in trouble with the law, while Bryon is a responsible and caring person who is trying to keep his friend out of trouble.
As the story progresses, Bryon starts dating a new girl named Cathy Carlson (played by Kim Delaney), which strains his relationship with Mark. Mark begins to feel even more alienated from society and turns to drugs to cope with his feelings of loneliness.
