In the movie That Touch of Mink, Doris Day plays Cathy Timberlake, an innocent young woman who is teaching at an all-girls school. Cary Grant plays Philip Shayne, a wealthy businessman who becomes smitten with her after accidentally splashing her with mud while driving by in his limousine.
Philip pursues Cathy aggressively, taking her on lavish dates to fancy restaurants and concerts, and even inviting her on a trip to Bermuda. Cathy is flattered by his attention but is determined to remain a virgin until she is married.
Despite her resistance, Philip is persistent and eventually convinces Cathy to go to bed with him. However, as soon as she gives in, he pulls away and tells her that he's not interested in a serious relationship. Hurt and disillusioned, Cathy leaves him and returns home.
After some time apart, the couple reunites and Philip realizes that he's fallen in love with Cathy and wants to marry her. Cathy grapples with her feelings for him and ultimately decides to accept his proposal, making sure to hold onto her values and ideals.
