Tex

Drama  United States of America

Tex is a 1982 film directed by Tim Hunter and starring Matt Dillon, Jim Metzler, and Meg Tilly. The film is based on the popular novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton.

The plot revolves around the two brothers, Tex and Mason McCormick, who live in a small Oklahoma town after their mother's death. Tex is a restless teenager who dreams of leaving town and going west, while Mason is more grounded and responsible. Their father is absent and their mother's old boyfriend, the reckless and unreliable Johnny Collins, often hangs around the house.

As the summer progresses, Tex becomes involved in various misadventures, such as stealing a horse and getting into a fight with a local gang. He also falls for Jamie Collins, Johnny's daughter, who is also struggling to cope with her father's erratic behavior. Meanwhile, Mason tries to keep the family together and fulfill his mother's last wish by getting Tex to summer school.

The film explores themes of family, friendship, and growing up in a poignant and realistic way. The performances by Dillon, Metzler, Tilly, and others are superb, and the film's portrayal of small-town life in the early 1980s is both nostalgic and authentic.

Tex is a coming-of-age story that stands the test of time, as relevant and relatable today as it was when it was first released. It is a must-see for fans of Hinton's work, as well as anyone who loves a good drama with heart and soul.
