Tetris

Drama,History  United Kingdom

The movie Tetris is based on the true story of Henk Rogers, a video game entrepreneur who discovered the popular game in 1988. Rogers sees the potential for Tetris to become a massive worldwide hit and sets out to secure the rights to distribute the game outside of the Soviet Union.

However, Rogers quickly discovers that the Soviet Union's bureaucratic and corrupt system of licensing video games is not easy to navigate. He encounters numerous obstacles, including shady characters who claim to have the rights to the game and corrupt officials demanding bribes. As Rogers fights to secure the rights to Tetris, he must also navigate a political landscape that includes Cold War tensions and the collapse of communism.

Rogers eventually forms a partnership with the game's creator, Alexey Pajitnov, and they work together to bring Tetris to the masses. The film explores the challenges of not only bringing a new product to market but doing so in a highly politicized and unstable environment.

Tetris stars Taron Egerton as Henk Rogers and is directed by Jon S. Baird. The movie is based on the book Tetris: The Games People Play by Box Brown. The release date for the film has not been announced yet.
