Based on Thomas Hardy's novel "Tess of the D’urbervilles," Tess is a 1979 British-French drama film directed by Roman Polanski. The film follows the story of Tess, a young girl from a poor family who is sent by her father to seek assistance from a rich family, the D'urbervilles.
The D'urbervilles initially welcome Tess and offer her a job as a milkmaid on their farm. However, as Tess's beauty and charm become apparent, Alec D'urberville, the son of the family, begins to pursue her relentlessly.
