The movie Ted K follows the life of Ted Kaczynski, a brilliant but disturbed mathematician who becomes disillusioned with technology and modern society. As a young man, Kaczynski struggles with fitting in, but excels academically and gets accepted into Harvard University. However, as he becomes more involved in the world of academia and advanced technology, Kaczynski becomes increasingly isolated and resentful.
After years of living a solitary existence in a remote cabin in the Montana wilderness, Kaczynski decides to take drastic action to bring attention to his anti-technology beliefs. He begins mailing bombs to targets associated with modern technology, killing and injuring innocent people in the process.
Kaczynski's campaign of terror lasts for over a decade, prompting a nationwide manhunt and making him one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives. Eventually, Kaczynski is captured, tried, and sentenced to life in prison, bringing an end to his violent reign of terror.
The movie examines the motivations and mindset of a man who believed the only way to save humanity was to destroy the very things that make modern society possible. Through interviews with those who knew Kaczynski and reenactments of key events in his life, Ted K offers a glimpse into the mind of a man who ultimately chose violent extremism as a means to advocate for his beliefs.
