The victims are shown as human beings, with the director giving voice to their stories. The motives behind Bundy's twisted crimes are detailed with equal weight.
The narrative also includes Bundy's escape from prison in Colorado, which he accomplished by jumping out a window of the courthouse. His freedom was short-lived, and he was eventually recaptured. The audience, however, is still left with the impression of a man consummately skilled at living in the shadows, even in broad daylight.
The trial of Ted Bundy is a cornerstone of the docu-drama. Bundy is shown representing himself in court, with the audience given an intimate view of his arrogant, confident, and self-assured speeches.
