Teachers is a 1984 comedy-drama film directed by Arthur Hiller and starring Nick Nolte as Alex Jurel, a high school teacher who becomes frustrated with the educational system at his school. Jurel is a dedicated teacher who wants to make a difference in the lives of his students, but he finds that the school is full of flunkies who don't care about their education.

Jurel soon discovers that many of his students are failing because they are not being taught properly. He starts to investigate the other teachers and finds that they are not as committed to their jobs as he is. He decides to take matters into his own hands and sets out to make a difference in the school.

Jurel's efforts to improve the school lead to conflict with the school administration, other teachers, and even some of his own students. However, he perseveres, and with the help of some of his students, he manages to improve the educational system at the school.

The film also stars JoBeth Williams as Lisa Hammond, another teacher who is initially resistant to Jurel's efforts but eventually becomes a key ally in the fight to improve the school. Other notable cast members include Ralph Macchio, Crispin Glover, Judd Hirsch, and Laura Dern.

The film was generally well-received upon its release and was praised for its comedic and dramatic elements as well as its social commentary on the state of education in America.
