Tazmanian Devil follows the story of Dayo, a Nigerian immigrant who moves to the United States to pursue his dreams of education. He lands up in Atlanta and soon finds himself eager to join a fraternity. However, Dayo's father, a stern and strict pastor, is against his son's desire to join a Greek organization. At the same time, Dayo's father also struggles to connect with his son beyond the religious sermons he preaches.
As Dayo navigates his way through the challenges of pledging for the fraternity, he faces the dilemma of choosing between the allure of acceptance and forging a bond with his distant father. The movie explores Dayo's journey as he deals with the cultural clashes of being an African immigrant in America, the need for belonging, and reconciling with his family history.
Directed by Solomon Onita Jr., Tazmanian Devil stars Abraham Attah as Dayo, Adepero Oduye as Dayo's mother, and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Dayo's estranged father. The movie offers a poignant and timely message about the importance of balancing personal desires with familial obligations and the struggle of identity that many immigrants face.
