Tanhaji Malusare, a brave and skilled Maratha warrior, is approached by Shivaji, the founder of the Maratha Empire, to recapture the Kondhana fort from the Mughals. The Mughal emperor Aurangzeb has tasked his loyal soldier Udaybhan to take control of the fort and strengthen Mughal hold over the Deccan region.
Tanhaji sets out on his mission with his army of Maratha warriors, including his younger brother and close aide, Suryaji. Their tactical approach to the battle, including the use of a giant cannon and guerilla tactics, helps them overcome the Mughal forces led by Udaybhan.
Throughout the battle, Tanhaji and Udaybhan engage in fierce combat, with Tanhaji fighting to protect the fort of his homeland and Udaybhan fighting to defend his loyalty to Aurangzeb. In the end, Tanhaji sacrifices his life to ensure the success of the mission, securing the Kondhana fort for the Marathas.
The movie explores the bravery and patriotism of Tanhaji, hailed as the unsung warrior of Indian history, and his contribution to the Maratha Empire. It also delves into the politics and power struggles of the time, reflecting on the impact of these on the lives of common people.
