Taking Lives is a psychological thriller movie released in 2004, directed by D.J. Caruso and starring Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, and Kiefer Sutherland. The story follows FBI profiler Illeana Scott (Angelina Jolie), who is called to Montreal to help solve a gruesome serial murder case. The killer has been targeting young women for years, assuming their identities, and disappearing without a trace.

Illeana is joined in Montreal by Detective Paquette (Olivier Martinez) and his partner, Detective Duval (Tchéky Karyo). Despite being a seasoned investigator, Illeana struggles to connect with the other officers and their methods, preferring to work alone and follow her intuition. While investigating the most recent murder scene, Illeana meets art dealer James Costa (Ethan Hawke), who was present during the victim's last moments and now claims to have seen the killer.

As Illeana delves deeper into the case, she becomes convinced that James may hold the key to identifying the killer. The only problem is that James is a psychologically fragile artist, haunted by his past. As Illeana tries to gain his trust, she begins to have feelings for him and becomes intimately involved in his life.

As the killer continues to elude the police and leave a trail of victims, Illeana becomes increasingly desperate to solve the case. When a major break comes in the investigation, she risks everything to capture the killer and bring him to justice.

Taking Lives is a fast-paced movie with plenty of twists and turns. The performances by the lead actors are excellent, particularly Angelina Jolie's portrayal of the tough, yet vulnerable detective. The film has some gruesome and graphic scenes, so it may not be suitable for all audiences. Overall, Taking Lives is a suspenseful thriller that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
