Margot (played by Michelle Williams) is a freelance writer living in Toronto with her husband Lou (played by Seth Rogen). Margot meets Daniel (played by Luke Kirby), a brooding artist who lives across the street, when they both take the same flight back home from a writing trip. Margot is immediately attracted to Daniel's mysterious and passionate nature and they strike up a conversation on the plane.
When Margot and Daniel discover they live in the same neighborhood, they begin to spend more time together, walking around the city and enjoying each other's company. As they become closer and their attraction intensifies, Margot is forced to confront her feelings and decide how to proceed.
The film delves into Margot's struggle between her love for her stable and loving husband and her desire for something new and exciting with Daniel. Lou is unaware of Margot's infidelity, but the tension between them begins to build as Margot becomes more distant.
Throughout the movie, the audience watches as Margot grapples with her internal conflict, ultimately making a decision that has long-term consequences for everyone involved.
