Take Me to the River is a coming-of-age drama that follows a 17-year-old Californian named Ryder who travels to Nebraska with his parents, Cindy and Don, to attend a family reunion on his mother's side. Ryder is an aspiring musician who is excited to meet his extended family, but he quickly realizes that they are a lot different from him and his immediate family.

While at the reunion, Ryder meets his cousin Molly, who is the same age as him, and they bond over their mutual love of music. However, as the weekend goes on, Ryder starts to notice strange tensions and secrets within the family. He also has a mysterious encounter with his gay, adopted cousin, which confuses and disturbs him.

As the family's secrets begin to unravel, Ryder finds himself at the center of a long-buried family secret involving his mother and her half-brother, Keith. The revelation threatens to tear the family apart and forces Ryder to come to terms with his own identity and place within the family.

The movie explores complex themes of family dynamics, identity, sexuality, and acceptance. Directed by Matt Sobel, Take Me to the River premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015 and stars Logan Miller, Robin Weigert, and Richard Schiff.
