Sydney White is a comedy movie that retells the story of Snow White, setting the tale in a modern-day university. The protagonist, Sydney White (Amanda Bynes), is a freshman who is thrilled to start her new life in college. Unfortunately, she quickly realizes that not everything is as she expected it to be. She decides to pledge to her mother's sorority, Kappa Phi Nu, hoping to find her place and make new friends.
However, she quickly realizes that the queen bee of the sorority, Rachel (Sara Paxton), is not as friendly as she seems. Rachel is highly driven and has a nasty habit of making everyone around her miserable, including Sydney. After a series of misfortunes and misunderstandings, Sydney decides to leave the sorority and join the group of misfits that lives in the Vortex. The Vortex is a former coal mineshaft that has been converted into a dormitory for the outcasts of the university.
Sydney, along with the seven dwarfs of the Vortex, works to overthrow Rachel and her cronies and make the university a better place for everyone. Along the way, she falls in love with Tyler, a student who helps her with her cause, and learns the true meaning of friendship and loyalty.
The film is a lighthearted comedy that celebrates individuality and inclusivity. It offers a fresh take on the classic fairytale and showcases the importance of standing up for what is right.
