In Switched for Christmas, identical twins Kate and Chris Lockhart (played by Candace Cameron Bure) decide to switch places for the holidays. Kate is a successful businesswoman, while Chris is a single mom and elementary school teacher. The two sisters want to experience each other's lives and give each other a break from their own hectic schedules.
As they switch places, Kate takes over Chris' teaching duties and begins planning the school's Christmas pageant, while Chris takes over Kate's job and begins planning the company's holiday party. Despite the challenges and mishaps that come along the way, both sisters thrive in their new roles and gain a new appreciation for each other's lives.
