Laney Blu, played by actress Megan Hilty, is a successful country music artist who left her small hometown of Sweetwater, Tennessee to pursue her dreams. However, when she travels back to Sweetwater for a brief visit with her family, a snowstorm hits and Laney finds herself stranded in her hometown.
As she waits for the roads to clear, Laney reconnects with old friends, including her childhood friend and former flame, Robbie, played by actor Marcus Rosner. Robbie now works as a snowplow driver and helps Laney navigate the snowy roads.
During her stay, Laney is asked to perform in a local Christmas concert, which she agrees to despite feeling unsure about returning to her music roots. As she rehearses for the show, Laney realizes how much she misses the close-knit community of Sweetwater and begins to fall in love with the town all over again.
As she spends more time with Robbie, Laney begins to see him in a new light and starts to develop feelings for him. However, she is torn between her career aspirations and her growing love for Robbie and the town of Sweetwater.
Sweet Mountain Christmas is a heartwarming story about finding love and rediscovering the joy of home and family during the holiday season. The made-for-TV movie premiered on Lifetime in 2019 and is directed by David Winning.
