Sweeney! is a feature film adaptation of the popular 1970s British TV series The Sweeney which follows tough London cop DI Regan (John Thaw) and his partner DS Carter (Dennis Waterman) as they tackle crime in the capital.
In the film, Regan investigates the death of a prostitute and soon becomes embroiled in a dangerous political scandal involving government minister Charles Baker. As he delves deeper into the case, Regan discovers that there is corruption at the highest levels of the establishment, putting him in direct conflict with his superiors and the security services.
Despite the resistance he faces, Regan is determined to get to the bottom of the situation and bring those responsible to justice. Along the way, he works with his trusted partner Carter and clashes with his arch-rival, tough-talking Detective Chief Inspector Haskins (Garfield Morgan).
As the body count rises and the stakes get higher, Regan must navigate a treacherous web of lies and deceit in order to expose the truth and take down the criminals behind the conspiracy.
