Gabriella is determined to make a fresh start in Florida, but the memories of her father's death and her own experiences with bullying are still fresh in her mind. When she witnesses a student being bullied in the lunchroom, she's reminded of her father's compassion and decides to take action. She tries to befriend the victim, but the bullies are relentless, making it difficult for her to get close to him.
Despite the challenges, Gabriella doesn't give up. She talks to teachers and other students in an attempt to find a solution. However, the bullying only gets worse, and eventually, she realizes that she must confront the bullies face to face. She stands up to the most violent boy in school, putting herself in harm's way, but ultimately she's successful in putting an end to the bullying.
