Superbad is a 2007 teen comedy film directed by Greg Mottola and written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. The film follows two best friends, Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera), who are high school seniors and have been close since childhood. The pair are set to attend different colleges in the fall and are determined to have one last wild night together before they part ways.
Seth, who is obsessed with sex and partying, finds out about a party that his longtime crush, Jules (Emma Stone), is attending and convinces Evan to help him bring alcohol to the party. Their plans go awry when they accidentally befriend the nerdy but resourceful Fogell (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), who is able to procure a fake ID for them to purchase alcohol with.
As the night progresses, the trio encounters numerous mishaps, including running into two oddball police officers (played by Rogen and Bill Hader) and attending a party hosted by a group of violent and aggressive college students. Eventually, Seth and Evan have a falling out due to their co-dependency issues and a misunderstanding about Jules.
The film ultimately ends with the friends reconciling, confessing their fears about college, and departing on their separate paths. Superbad was a critical and commercial success, becoming a cult classic among teenagers and young adults. Its humor, relatability, and portrayal of high school friendships have solidified it as a beloved comedy in the genre.
