Frank D'Arbo, a short-order cook, is married to Sarah, a recovering drug addict. They lead uneventful lives until Sarah falls off the wagon and leaves Frank for Jacques, a charismatic drug dealer. Obsessed with taking revenge and winning back his wife, Frank decides to literally transform himself into a superhero, the Crimson Bolt. Armed with a homemade costume and a pipe wrench, he begins a campaign to rid the streets of crime, targeting drug dealers and other criminals.
Along the way, Frank meets an eclectic cast of characters, including Libby, a young woman who is also obsessed with superheroes and becomes his sidekick, Boltie. Together, they embark on a violent and often hilarious crusade against evil. However, as Frank's vigilantism becomes increasingly extreme and dangerous, he begins to lose touch with reality and his own moral compass.
