Beyond the Cocaine Empire: Super Fly's Last Chance

Action,Crime,Drama  United States of America

Super Fly is a 1972 American blaxploitation crime drama film directed by Gordon Parks Jr. and starring Ron O'Neal as the titular character, Youngblood Priest aka Super Fly. Priest is a cocaine dealer in New York City who wants to get out of the game before he gets killed or arrested. He spends most of his time hanging out with his girlfriend, Georgia, played by Sheila Frazier, and his friend Eddie, played by Carl Lee.

Priest is known for being smooth, stylish, and cunning. He knows how to navigate the dangerous world of drug dealing and has a reputation for being the best in the business. However, he also knows that his life is on borrowed time and that he needs to make a big score if he wants to get out of the game for good.

With the help of Eddie, Priest sets up a deal with a large drug syndicate that will net him over a million dollars. However, the deal is risky and could end badly if anything goes wrong. Priest and Eddie have to navigate their way through a web of corrupt cops, rival gangs, and double-crossing associates in order to pull off the deal.

Super Fly was a groundbreaking film for its time, as it was one of the first movies to feature a Black protagonist who was not a stereotypical criminal or servant. It was also noted for its stylish direction and its portrayal of the glamour and danger of drug dealing. The film was a commercial success and spawned two sequels, Super Fly T.N.T. and The Return of Super Fly.
